Madison River

Yesterday we went to Bozeman to do some shopping. It's 90 miles each way, to get to the closest Super Wal-Mart. On our way back we ran into the common afternoon thunderstorms and some spectacular rainbows. Today, we spent some time along the Madison River in the National Park. We set up our chairs along the bank, watched the wildlife and enjoyed the sound of the river. All in all a very relaxing time.

The storm just passed over us and the sun came out.

The pot of gold!

The Madison River, which is open only to fly fishing.

Another view of the river.

A damsel fly setting on a rock in the river.

A family of ducks drying off.

Two of the young ducks.

Guess this osprey didn't read the signs about only fly fishing allowed. Here he is ready to dive into the river.

The osprey taking it's catch back to the nest. It circled many times to gain elevation until the air currents were favorable and glided away out of sight.
