Ride to Horse Butte

A few weeks ago we went exploring near Hebgen Lake, which is northwest of West Y. We ended up on Horse Butte, which has an old fire tower at the top. Another nice day.

Jack fence is very popular here, as it doesn't require sinking the posts into the ground.

Even in late June, there's quite a bit of snow on the mountains.

Views of Hebgen Lake from the top of the butte.

Back at lake level, we spotted this bald eagle soaring. What a magnificent site.

Spring Wildlife in Yellowstone

A common site in the park, this is what we call a bison jam.

Trip to Minot

Back in May, on Memorial Day weekend, we took a drive out to Minot, ND for our youngest son's promotion to Captain in the Air Force. Here are a few things we saw along the way.

Our first day out, we encountered a group of about a dozen big horn sheep on a side hill.

On our second day out, we stopped at a fishing access in the Dakota Grasslands for a leg stretch. It was very peaceful with spring flowers in bloom.

Small town USA all decked out for Memorial Day.

One of many new wind generators south of Minot. What a wonderful site.

On our way back home to West, we enjoyed watching this moose foraging.
