Q Mountain on Valentine's Day

On Valentine's Day, two other couples hiked with us up to the top of Q mountain. It's not far from where we are parked. What a great day! All these pictures were taken from the top. Q mountain is not very high, but gives a nice view of the area.

Beauty in the Desert

Life in the desert is good. Every day brings new surprises.

This female hummingbird is one of our frequent visitors.

One of the rare rainy days here produced this amazing double rainbow.

Car Show at the Big Tent

When we first arrived here in Quartzsite, the big RV show was going on. Since that has ended, they had a craft and car show this last weekend.

Just to remind us that we are in the desert, there is an occasional saguaro cactus growing in the flea market area.

Visit to a Gold Claim

Jamie and George invited the SKP Boomers to visit their gold claim. It was an interesting day. Very informative with perfect weather.

Rain in the desert

Our first week in Quartzsite was interesting. We had a rainy day with a tremendous amount of rain and wind in the afternoon. All 8 of us were safe inside Doug and Terry's large RV, while we rode out the storm. We found out later there were tornado watches for the area and a report of one not too far from us. It looked like a hurricane, with the sheets of rain blowing over our little house. The smell of the desert after rain is something worth experiencing.

This Verdin is not a hummingbird, but visits our feeder for a sweet treat.

Beautiful sunset the next day, over Tom and Dayle's rig.
